The Duo

The Duo Behind Nia: How Two Sisters Came Together to Build with Purpose

Some partnerships are planned.
Ours was earned — slowly, through difference, trust, and a shared return to what truly mattered.

Nia is the first brand we’ve built together. But the story begins earlier, with one sister creating alone — and the other watching, learning, and eventually stepping in with intention.

Before Nia: One Sister, One Beginning

Before Nia existed, there was Amalgam.

Amalgam was founded by one of us — a deeply personal expression of craftsmanship, naturally dyed hemp apparel, and handmade jewelry. It was rooted in curiosity, experimentation, and a desire to create thoughtfully.

That chapter mattered. It built skills, confidence, and an understanding of materials and process. But over time, it also revealed something important: the need for clarity. For focus. For a deeper alignment between values and execution.

Amalgam was not a failure — it was a foundation.

Childhood Differences That Shaped Us

We grew up as sisters who saw the world differently.

One of us was drawn to creativity, design, and questions of fairness — always imagining how things could be better. The other was naturally pragmatic, observant, and drawn to systems, structure, and sustainability through planning.

What connected us was nature.

A shared sensitivity toward animals. A discomfort with waste. A quiet belief that how we live leaves a trace — whether we acknowledge it or not.

Those early contrasts didn’t divide us. They prepared us.

The Decision to Build Nia Together

When conversations about starting something new began, it was clear this couldn’t be a continuation of the past.

Nia needed to be different.

This time, it wouldn’t be built alone. It would be built with balance — creative vision held steady by financial clarity, idealism grounded by responsibility.

That’s when Nia took shape: a brand led equally by two sisters, each bringing a distinct lens, yet moving toward the same purpose.

A Brand Shaped by Balance

Nia works because of contrast.

  • One of us brings a designer’s eye and a community-first mindset.

  • The other brings a finance background and a clear understanding of how to build something that lasts.

Together, we challenge each other constantly — questioning materials, pacing, scale, and impact. We believe that ethical brands don’t need to choose between heart and viability.

They need both.

Values That Are Personal, Not Performative

For one of us, veganism is a deeply personal commitment — not a label, but a way of living that reflects care for animals and conscious choice.

That belief quietly informs how decisions are made at Nia — from sourcing to production to partnerships. It keeps us accountable. It keeps us honest.

We don’t believe in perfection. We believe in intention — and in continually doing better.

Why We’re Sharing This Story

We’re sharing this not as a brand pitch, but as context.

Nia is shaped by two people who grew up differently, learned separately, and chose to build together — with care, disagreement, and respect.

We are still evolving. Still refining. Still learning.

But everything we create now carries the weight of that decision — to build consciously, together, and with purpose.
